Key features and reading levels: Simple, illustrated picture books for children aged 1 – 6. Each book is bi-lingual and has a QR code to enable narration of the two languages (in native voices) on a smart device. Supports curriculum by promoting, for the target pre-school age group, simple vocabulary, formulaic expressions (everyday language use) for normal everyday objects and experiences, objects, and basic rule based competence (sentence structure, grammar). Supports learning by enabling children to see the pictures and words and hear the narration in two languages, thereby providing solid grounding in second language acquisition while supporting first language development.

About the Author

Most if not all young children – including my own twins – are fascinated by illustrated storybooks, and hence books contribute significantly to first language acquisition. The Poppy and Buddy series builds on that premise to promote second language development while still learning their first.
