The PANZ Book Design Awards

The PANZ Book Design Awards are run by the Publishers Association of New Zealand (PANZ) to promote excellence in, and provide recognition for, the best book design in New Zealand. The competition is judged in six categories: Best Children's Book, Best Illustrated Book, Best Non-Illustrated Book, Best Educational Book, Best Typography, and Best Cover. The CLNZ Educational Publishing Awards

The Copyright Licensing New Zealand Educational Publishing Awards were held for the first time in 2010. They have been established to recognise and reward authors and publishers for excellence in the educational publishing market. Six Awards are given to: Best Book/Series in Primary Publishing, Best Book/Series in Secondary Publishing, Best Book in Higher Education Publishing, Best Book/Series in Te Reo Māori, Best Digital Media Solution and Best Educational Resource or Programme for Export. … More

 

The New Zealand Post Book Awards

NZ Post Book Awards logoThe New Zealand Post Book Awards are New Zealand's premiere literary awards. They celebrate excellence, identifying the very best books written by New Zealanders. Books are judged in four main categories: Poetry, Fiction, Illustrated Non-fiction and General Non-fiction. One Book of the Year is chosen from the finalists in each of these categories. Other awards include the Māori Language Award, Readers’ Choice Award, and NZSA Best First Book Awards.

A significant prize pool sees the overall winner of the Book of the Year Award receiving $15,000. Winners of the four Category Awards each receive $10,000, the Māori Language Award $10,000, Readers’ Choice Award $5,000, and each of the winners of the three NZSA Best First Book Awards, $2,500.

PANZ, along with Booksellers New Zealand and the sponsor New Zealand Post, plays an active role in the management of the New Zealand Post Awards. More information can be found on the Booksellers New Zealand website.

The New Zealand Post Children's Book Awards

The New Zealand Post Children's Book Awards are presented annually, each May, to promote excellence in children's literature and provide recognition and reward for authors and illustrators of high quality New Zealand books for children and teenagers.

They recognise the best books for children and teenagers published annually in New Zealand. Awards for the New Zealand Post Book Awards are made in four categories: Young Adult Fiction, Junior Fiction, Non-fiction, Picture Book.
